April is here and spring is in full bloom!!!

• The month of April is recognized as Child Abuse Prevention Month. We all have a responsibility to protect our most precious resource...our children.
• The Week of the Young Child is celebrated from April 8-12. This week celebrates early learning, young children, their teachers and families. The daily themes are:

• The week of April 7-13 is National Library Week. Get a library card and make use of this neighborhood resource.
• April 1 is April Fools' Day, a day to play harmless tricks on one another.
• April 2 is World Autism Awareness Day, a day to inform and educate everyone who deals with children.
• The Muslim observance of Eid as-Fitr, the celebration of the end of Ramadan, begins at sundown on April 9.
• Earth Day, a day to celebrate our planet, is celebrated on April 22.
• The Creative Curriculum themes for April are "Rocks" for the 2-year olds and "Gardening for the 3s and 4s.
• The CECD theme for all children is “Growing Things.”

• April 2-4: Virtual Class Meetings (check your site calendar for specific dates and times).
• April 12: As part of our "Week of the Young Child" activities, Family Friday is also "Dads' Day to Read." Fathers are invited to read a story in their child's class.
• April 15: Virtual School Readiness Team meeting at 10:00 AM (postponed from March 28).
• April 17: J2 Virtual Site Parent Committee (SPC) meeting at 9:30 AM.
• April 17: J1 Virtual Site Parent Committee (SPC) meeting at 10:30 AM.

Reminders

• We are open on April 25-April 30, even though piblic schools are closed.
• Speak to your site Educational Director or Family Assistant regarding the dates of April site visits by our consultants (health, mental health and nutrition. Your Family Assistant can assist you in making an appointment.
• Please label your child’s clothing (coats, jackets, hoodies and sweaters…even shoes). Talk to your child about the label and explain that other children may have the same type of clothing. Help us minimize clothing going home with the wrong child. Writing on the size tag with a permanent marker is the easiest and most inexpensive way of labeling your child’s clothing.
  
• Please bring your child to school on time (8:15 AM). We don’t want him/her to miss out!
• Dismissal time is 3:15 PM-3:30 PM daily and 12:30 PM on April 26.
